Can’t Wait Wednesday #2

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. If you’re continuing with WOW, feel free to link those up as well! Find out more here.

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake

Girl Made of Stars

Expected Publication Date: May 15, 2018

Publisher: HMH Books for Young readers

304 pages

Blurb from Goodreads:

“I need Owen to explain this. Because yes, I do know that Owen would never do that, but I also know Hannah would never lie about something like that.”

Mara and Owen are about as close as twins can get. So when Mara’s friend Hannah accuses Owen of rape, Mara doesn’t know what to think. Can the brother she loves really be guilty of such a violent crime? Torn between the family she loves and her own sense of right and wrong, Mara is feeling lost, and it doesn’t help that things have been strained with her ex and best friend since childhood, Charlie.

As Mara, Hannah, and Charlie navigate this new terrain, Mara must face a trauma from her own past and decide where Charlie fits in her future. With sensitivity and openness, this timely novel confronts the difficult questions surrounding consent, victim blaming, and sexual assault.

  • I’ve been seeing this all over booktube and on instagram. It sounds so good and I really can’t wait to read it. I haven’t been able to get my hands on an advanced copy, so May 15th is my date.

What can’t you wait to read? Are you one of the lucky ones that got an ARC? Let’s talk below! 🙂

  1. This one sounds really powerful, and I think the POV of a family member of an accused rapist is a really important one. I’ll definitely be adding this to goodreads. Thanks so much for sharing! It reminds me a bit of You Against Me by Jenny Downham.
