Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

Pride and Prejudice

Five Stars!

I’m not sure why it has taken so long for me to read this. I have (huge) book that has all of her novels. I think that it was a bit intimidating since it’s so huge. I finally made myself read it. One of my favorite movies is Pride and Prejudice. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it. I will now be watching it again!

This book is gorgeous! The English in this book can be tough but it’s so pretty. The thing that I love about this book is that the love is just so slow. I mean, talk about not having instant love! I am so glad that I read the book because there is so much going on. So many instances that are not in the movie. I felt in the movie, it was rather quick. They both just don’t like each other but the more they learn about each other, the more they start to like each other. I love how she says, “It has been coming on so gradually, that I hardly know when it began.” This might be my favorite sentence of the whole book! It’s just so real and so honest.

Elizabeth is just such an amazing character. I love how strong-willed she is. She doesn’t back down and speaks her mind. A lot of people don’t like that about her but I think that’s what Darcy does like about her. It’s refreshing and it’s challenging. One of my favorite parts is when she stands up to Lady Catherine de Bourgh!

Mr. Darcy… Oh my gosh. I think that I love him more than ever. There is so much more to him in this book. He’s such a jerk at first but you come to love him by the end, just like Elizabeth. What he does for her, hoping that it might change her mind, is just insanely sweet. ❤

I don’t really know what else I can say. This book is a classic for a reason. I am now going to continue onto the next Austen book!

  1. I have been noticing others reading Jane Austen lately, and I am tempted. I read Pride and Prejudice when I was a teenager…and that was sooo many years ago. LOL.

I never read beyond that one book, but after reading books like The Jane Austen Book Club and some of the retellings, I know I need to go back and read more. Thanks for sharing.

    • Yeah, a lot of people had to read it in school. I have been wanting to read her books for so long. I also read The Jane Austen Book Club! I have all the books in one big novel. I’m hoping to read more of them soon!
