This is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.
Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on a Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
14th – 20th- What author do you not read and why? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
James Patterson. So, I read a few of his books before I started working at the library. Then I started working at the library. Oh my goodness! He is a “hot author,” which means there are about 2000+ copies ordered of each of his books. People are automatically put on hold for any of his titles. Well, that’s a ton of books and he comes out with a book like every two weeks. Most of them, he just puts his name on but I wont get into that. When his books come out, it takes so much longer to shelve holds. We have a cart dedicated to just his book holds. Then about 3 weeks go by, and there’s a crap ton of copies just sitting our the shelves. Mostly, because they order way too many copies. Then we have to weed them and send them to other branches or the friends shop. It’s such a hassle and SO MUCH WORK. They should order less books and he should think about quality over quantity. End rant. haha. Now, I can’t stand to even look at any of his books. LOL.
What about you? Any author you don’t read?
I don’t read Sara Shepard anymore, I used to read Pretty Little Liars but she dragged that on for wayyy to long. I started the first book of The Lying Game and decided it wasn’t worth it to go back down that rabbit hole

I heard that her books were so different than the show. Also, there’s so many books!!

Yeah they take a lot of different turns but the books make more sense than the show

Dan Brown. Basically every book is the same 🤷🏻♀️

Yeah, he’s also got a lot of books. I feel that most authors that pump out a lot are writing like the same thing over.

Precisely. I was interested in one or two, but I didn’t see the point in reading the rest

I guess a famous author that I don’t read would be Agatha Christie. I mean, I know she’s good and her books are brilliant but I can just never stay engrossed for too long (maybe for the lack of trying lol).

I haven’t read anything by her either! Not that I’m avoiding her but I plan on reading some. I just haven’t had the chance. Not every author is for everyone though!

I read Crazy House by Patterson last year and was disappointed. I hadn’t realised the extent of his books written with other authors.
I’ve never been interested in reading the Fifty Shades Of Grey series.

Yeah! A lot of his books, he just slaps his name on it.

I totally agree! My mum LOVE Patterson and has shelves and shelves of his books, but I’ve always wondered how one person could possibly write that amount and expect them to be equally good and diverse!? I think the same goes for other crime writers like Martina Cole/ Lee Child (although I can’t say I’ve read enough to say that I ‘wouldn’t’ read any of their books!)

Yeah, I’m not even sure which books he actually writes anymore! He pushes out way too manny! There’s a few authors like that, some being ones you mentioned!

This made me laugh and now suddenly my lack of interest in his works feels justified haha.
