The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

The Queen of Nothing (The Folk of the Air, #3)

It’s my first completed fiction book in SOO long!! I was patiently awaiting my library hold because NO ONE got me this for christmas!! WHAT! haha… Anyways…

I need to talk about this cover. When I first saw it, I had mixed emotions. I had no idea what it meant and now that I do… I’m still not the biggest fan. I just don’t love it and I can’t quite put my finger on it. I still need to own a copy though.

This book did not disappoint! It captured me right away and I had a hard time putting it down. It was so hard when I did have to put it away.. baby comes first! Still, I was able to finish it in a day! With that being said, the fast pace was a little too fast. I was a bit shocked at how small this book really was for and ending. I felt like SO many things were happening but at too fast of a pace. I would have liked her to slow down a bit and really take her time. We get introductions to some awesome characters but not much of one.

I loved the amount of growth that many of these characters had since the beginning. Especially, her sisters!! Oh gosh, I just loved how they really found their way. Again, I wish we would have gotten more of their stories! Anyone else really intrigued by Taryn’s story? I felt like we needed SO much more there.

I do wish that we would have gotten a little more of Cardan. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of him in this book. I really would love to know more about what he was up to since she was exiled.

Did anyone else figure out the prophecy? I did and was so sad! There are a lot of twists and turns in this book but I really enjoyed the ride. I am really pleased on how Holly Black wrapped up this series. It was such a great series and one that I’ll recommend.

Do you get excited or disappointed when you figure out prophecies or key plot twists?! I always feel so disappointed that I was able to figure it out. haha. I love surprises!!

  1. I completely agree with the pacing issues in this book, I would’ve loved for her to slow down a smidge. Overall I did enjoy this conclusion and hope we get another Holly Black anything really SOON haha! Great review, happy reading! ❤

    • Thank you! Yes, maybe it was because I wanted more but it was just so fast! I feel like this could have easily been a 500 page book and I would love it so much more!! Happy reading 😁
