I really enjoyed book 1 of this series and was really looking forward to continuing. I decided to wait until I had the third book, in my possession, to dive into this one. Unfortunately, I did not love this one as much as the first book, Truly Devious.
I still loved most of the characters in this book, especially Stevie. She’s really pretty great and I love how her mind works. I did not really care for David in this book. He kind of goes a bit crazy and really isn’t all that nice in this one. I get where the author was going, with reading the third book, but I did not like it one bit, in this one.
I did enjoy getting to know our other characters a bit more. I really enjoy her band of friends. I think that Johnson does a great job with her characters because I just really enjoyed them. Really, that was the best part about this book.
My biggest issue is that it is so s l o w. There really isn’t much that happens in this book at all! There’s no action and I kept finding myself dozing off. I loved how there was so much action and craziness going on in the first book and we don’t really get that here.
We do get a little more about the mystery but really I was left with a lot more questions than anything! I wish we would have gotten a bit more clarity or something to really make this book more interesting.
Overall, this was an okay read. It really reads as a filler book until we get to the final book. It’s unfortunate but that will happen.
