This was my first Christina Lauren book and I’m wondering, WHY?! I really feel like I need more. Please, give me so more recommendations by them!
I have been reading a lot of fantasies and I just needed a break. I think I’m going to go with some contemporaries/romances for a bit. I have heard so many people recommend and rave about this book. I saw it at my local bookstore and picked it up! I am so glad I did. I loved this one so much!
I flew through this book and read it so fast. I just couldn’t stop because I needed to know what was going to happen next. I really love the enemies-to-lovers trope. I love it so much because I always find the banter hilarious. This book was no exception. It was so witty and it made me laugh out loud a lot. My husband looked over and said, “I am glad you are enjoying your book.” 🙂 One of the things that really got me were all the names. Ethan is constantly calling Olive, Olivia. So, she starts calling him random “E” names, like Eric, Elijah & Eragon. It happens a lot throughout the book and he starts doing the same with her name.
I really enjoyed Olive so much. She’s fun and snarky and is convinced that she’s absolutely “unlucky.” She really doesn’t take crap from anyone though and it’s always so fun to read about. It took me a little bit to warm up to Ethan. He comes off as quite rude until you get to know him more. There’s a lot more going on there. I liked the fact that they had to pretend to be in a relationship, when they pretty much hate each other. It was really fun!
There are a couple things in this book that I wasn’t the biggest fan of, hence the knock in stars. I don’t really want to get into it because it can be spoilery but it had to do with other relationships around these two. I just didn’t think it as handled very well.
I thought this was such a fun and enjoyable read. I feel so much lighter after the heaviness of a lot of fantasies. I am really satisfied with my first book by these authors. I can’t wait to read more by them! 🙂
