Mother Knows Best: A Tale of the Old Witch

I have all of these books now. The first one I read, Fairest of All: The Wicked Queen, I didn’t love. Unfortunately, I do not own that one in hardcover. I normally don’t mind what type I have but these books are AMAZING in hardcover!!

Anyways, I went into this book with really low expectations. The reviews on these books all around aren’t the best. I just love Disney so much and have to push through. Luckily, I really enjoyed this one!

It could be that I haven’t read/watched a thousand renditions of Gothel’s story/remake. This story is so heartbreaking. I really flew through this book because I had to know what happened next. I was just so into the plot and needed to know how this story was going to unfold. Even though, I’ve seen Tangled and kind of know how it ends, I really enjoyed the way we get there. It’s so much more sinister than I imagined.

I was actually surprised that I liked it so much because it is very creepy. I had no idea! I read this one out of order, on accident. I needed an “M” for a challenge and didn’t realize they had to be read in order. I did have some issues with some of the plot points but now it makes sense. There’s a whole story being put together and they do need to be read in order. Don’t make my mistake! haha.

I did find it odd that there were SO many exclamation points! Really, it feels like they are just constantly yelling. Turns out… lots of people noticed that too.

Overall, I enjoyed this and I can’t wait to read the others. I went in with REALLY low expectations and that could have some influence on that.
