I had the pleasure of meeting Jason Segel when he was touring for book #1 in this series. I loved him on How I Met Your Mother and was really excited about this. I really enjoyed the first book and this one was good too.
We get a whole different set of problems in this book. All the sudden the next town over is turning into “walkers” – humans acting zombielike. This is definitely a true middle grade book. Some won’t like it because it’s so “young.” These are definitely written for a younger audience and you have to set your expectations that way, going in.
I really do like the cast of main characters and their friend group. There’s a lot of funny parts, which helps with all the “Scary” things. I love this book series about nightmares because it’s not too scary for children and they learn a lot of important lessons. Face your fears!
I also really love the family relationships in this book and how they are so much more strengthened in this one. Charlie and Charlotte are definitely in a much better place. I’m not sure how I feel about the dad being in the dark all the time.
There is an actual cliffhanger in this book that I’m really excited to delve into in the next book! I think these are fun books for kids and I really enjoyed them as an adult!
