The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill

The Girl Who Drank the Moon

I really enjoyed the writing style in this book. It was so magical and so lyrical. It really felt like a fairy tale of old. I enjoyed this aspect very much.

I really liked the story and thought it was interesting. There were times though that this book was really slow. It took so long to get things going and there was so much detail, it was too much at times. I definitely think this would have been much better if it were shorter. It’s a bit long and things get a bit dragged out at times.

There’s a lot of heavy topics being discussed here, for example: mental health and corruption.

I think my favorite part about this book is Antain. He was such a wholesome character and I found myself wanting to really read his chapters more than any others. He really gave up so much power because he knew what was going on was wrong. He risked a lot and I just loved seeing his story unfold.

Overall, this was a decent read. It’s a bit slow and too long. I did think it was a good story and I really liked the characters!
