Mid-Year Freak Out Tag!

I’ve been seeing this go around and I always enjoy reading them. I decided to give it a go. I can’t believe we are already half way through the year!!

My realistic goal was to read 10 books this year. After the craziness of last year and now having a newborn.. I didn’t know when I would want to pick up a book again (or have time). Guys, I have far surpassed that!! I have met my goal and BLEW PAST IT! I’ve read 118 books so far! Most of these being my own TBR. It hasn’t helped that I’ve purchased a ton of books the last few months that the library has been shut down.

1.BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2020?

This is so hard. I’ve read some amazing books this year.. I really can’t decide between two… So.. I’m cheating! Both of these books are amazing in their own way. Of course, they are two of the biggest books I’ve read this year. Goes to show… BIG BOOKS RULE! haha.

House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City, #1)
The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1)

2. BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2020?

Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor, #2)

I’m so surprised by this but it’s a middle grade!!! I’ve been getting into them this year and I’m loving it. I’m trying to get ready for when my son is reading at this age (still a looong ways to go) but my nephew was just here and he’s a big reader! It was so fun to talk some books that we’ve both read (middle grade).

3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO?

Harleen

This year, I’m reading a lot of backlist books or ones that I own. This was released this year and I own it!

4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR?

Again, I have two that I am most excited for. I did receive an e-ARC for Anxious People last week. I am SOOOOO excited!! If I can get my butt into gear and finish my readathon books then I’ll read that next!

Anxious People
A Sky Beyond the Storm (An Ember in the Ashes, #4)

5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?

Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicle, #3)

IT PAINS ME TO SAY THIS… DARKDAWN! :’-(

6. BIGGEST SURPRISE?

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)

I’ve had this on my shelf for an embarrassingly long time. I just kind of fell out of the vampire craze and didn’t think I would like this. I am SO glad that I gave it a shot because I really enjoyed this one!!

7. FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)?

BRANDON SANDERSON- 100%!!! I’ve read one book and I am sold. haha!

8. NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH?

A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers, #1)

I don’t know that I have a big crush but I loved him so much. Although… book two… ugh.

9. NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER?

The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1)

KALADIN!! He’s such an amazing character and I’m obsessed. 🙂

10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?

Defy Me (Shatter Me, #5)

HEAR ME OUT! I haven’t read anything that has made me cry in a good way, yet. This one I disliked so much that it metaphorically made me cry tears of PAIN. lol

11. BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY?

The Unhoneymooners

This was such a fun and happy read for me!

12. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR?

A Pinch of Magic (A Pinch of Magic, #1)
A Sprinkle of Sorcery (A Pinch of Magic, #2)

These books are BEAUTIFUL!!! These pictures don’t do it justice but there’s so much foil. I love them so much and can’t wait to read them!

13. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?

uhhhh… It would take me all day to list them here. I have soooo many physical books.. about 150 that I need to read before next Spring.. so yeah..

Well… that is all! If you want, give this tag a go!

  1. I love your book choices! I just started House of Earth and Blood and am loving it! I have a feeling it’s going to be one of my faves for the year too. The Immortal Rules looks intriguing. I might give that one a look. 🙂

    • oooohhh!! Yay!! I hope you love it by the end. I did think the first 150 pages were a bit tough to get through with all the info but the rest of it was soo good. If you are loving it already then I think it’s definitely going to be a winner! Yes, I’m planning on reading book two in the series next month! Vampires are making a comeback but I’m reading this like 8 years later.. haha.. still fits! 🙂

  2. I’ve been seeing everyone do this post and I really need to get on it. I can’t believe it’s mid-year already! Loved your answers! Wundersmith is actually my favourite sequel this year too. It’s so good and such an underrated gem? Also, Darkdawn was my least favourite of the series and it was a pretty disappointing conclusion… But overall, I still enjoyed it. Great overview!

    • Yes!! It’s such a fun tag. Since this is a few days later- I’ll have to jump to your blog to check. It’s kind of fun to see where I am in my reading, especially since I’ve read more than normal! lol. Oh yes, I totally think Wundersmith is underrated. I haven’t really seen it talked about as much as Nevermoor. I wonder if it’s because it’s MG? I don’t know but it’s so good!
