Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week is the Top Ten Books that Should be Adapted into TV Shows

Honestly, none… I think most of the time it’s not done well but here goes. I am not even saying movies because for the most part it just doesn’t work. I know a lot of my suggestions will be fantasy. Contemporaries are probably the best option for movies.

House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City, #1)

I think this would be amazing done by HBO. There’s so many characters and a huge world. It would take a big budget to do it right. I am thinking GoT production wise.

The Strange Case of Origami Yoda

Come on Disney+! I loved this MG series and would love my son to see it one day.

The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1)

Come on, HBO!!!! I really would love to see Bridge 4!

Saga, Vol. 1

I think Netflix or Hulu could possible do this justice. Maybe the CW. Idk but this would be great to see.

The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy, #1)

Netflix could possible handle this. This is such an amazing story.

The House in the Cerulean Sea

I could see this as a movie but I’m going with a mini-series! Probably Netflix.

Heartstopper: Volume One (Heartstopper, #1)

Netflix.. totally could be a mini-series by volume!

Beartown (Beartown, #1)

Netflix could do this. There’s so much material to really make this into a great show. There’s also a second book.. I think a third coming.

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1)

This is dark. HBO would need to be the one to take this on. Ugh, Sabaa and her torture!

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)

Yes- I know! There’s a movie and tv show that failed. The problem was Freeform, are you kidding me?! If anyone could have done this justice is the CW. It’s their type of niche. This story is so good and I NEED sometime to do this justice. PLEASE.. just stay true to the books. How hard is it?! Don’t kill of characters on a whim. There’s a reason there’s such a following for these books.. if you make crazy changes it’s not going to sit well. Just saying.

I’m always much more likely to think something is going to do well when it’s made into a tv show instead of movie. I mean.. it also depends on who is behind the production and casting. Harry Potter and The Hunger Games did a great job but they have been failing at series since then. I would much rather a tv series where it could be properly done. Netflix has been doing pretty good. I loved The Witcher but I have not read the books.

      • YES! 100% agree. The tv Jace and Clary didn’t seem right, and I hated what they did with Izzy and that they involved so much technology. The movie only really did wrong with that ending, and the awful casting of Valentine 😅

        • Yep!! Totally agree!! Loved the chemistry between J&C in the movie so much better. I don’t understand how a 2 hour movie could get so much of the book right (except sending) and the tv show got so much wrong! They had so much more to work with if they would have just adapted the book and not one someone thought sounded better!

    • Yes, I definitely think that Crescent City is totally comparable to a great show like GoT. Come on HBO!! haha.

Maybe since Supernatural is ending they will pick up some good books to adapt. I don’t know if anyone will ever touch TMI with the failures, so sad!
