Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week is the Top Ten September 8: Books for My Younger Self (These could be books you wish you had read as a child, books younger you could have really learned something from, books that meshed with your hobbies/interests, books that could have helped you go through events/changes in your life, etc.)

I’m going to focus on books that I wish I would have read when I was younger. I really wish I would have read a lot more MG classic books back then.

Little Women

I read this in April of this year. I really didn’t like it that much BUT I think I would have liked this a lot more when I was younger.

A Little Princess

I read this in May and loved it. I remember loving the movie when I was younger but wished I would have read the book then too.

Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle, #1)

I haven’t read this but I’ve been seeing so many talk about it.

Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)

I have not read this but I’ve seen several of the movie and tv adaptations. I need to get on it but I wish I would have read the books a looong time ago.

Where the Sidewalk Ends

I have not read this and I wish I would have. I did buy it for my son and we can just read it together.

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

I just started this series a couple months ago and wish I would have read it a long time ago!

A Wrinkle in Time (Time Quintet, #1)

I have this book. I saw the movie and really disliked it and now I’m afraid that I won’t like this at all. I wish I would have read it when I was young.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #1)

I just started the series a couple months ago. This is one I think I would have enjoyed a lot more when I was younger.

Ella Enchanted (Ella Enchanted #1)

I just read this a week ago and loved it. I wish I would have read this when I was younger because it would have been a favorite!

Jane Eyre

I have not read this yet. Ahh. I need to but I really wish I would have done so already!

Did you read any of these when you were younger?? What’s a book that you wish you would have read then? Did you participate in this week’s T.T.T? Link it below, I would love to check it out!!

  1. Meep… I haven’t heard sooo many of these either! πŸ™ˆ But I was basically glued to all of Silverstein’s books when I was in elementary school. I think my most vivid memories of hanging out in the library involve his books. Where the Sidewalk Ends was a definite favourite! 😍 I hope you enjoy reading it together with your son! Hehe

    • I know, I can’t believe I haven’t read many of these either!! It’s so crazy but I’m working on it! Ohh, good!! I’m sure that we will.. well I hope he still loves books by then! hahaha πŸ™‚

  2. I read a lot of the classics in my youth (mostly because of school) and enjoyed them in a way that I wouldn’t enjoy them now. My tastes have changed so much over the years that I can’t subject myself to what I call ‘dry’ reading. I did enjoy the Anne of Green Gables series though and those are good at any age πŸ™‚

Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post.

    • Yeah, I have had some hits and misses with a lot of classics. I know that I would have loved them a lot more at a younger age. I am really excited for Anne of Green Gables because I just love the adaptations so much! πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, there’s a few books to the Narnia books!! I have a boundup of all of them, so not sure how many off the top of my head. I’m really excited to read some of these that I missed out on when I was younger!
