September Wrap Up!

How is it fall?! I feel like summer went so fast. The weather has been chilly for a couple weeks now and I feel like that’s early for us! Ah, I’m worried about a crazy winter!! Anyways, I’m loving all my comfy sweaters though!

I read 17 books that totaled 5,588 pages. I read a lot of smaller page count books this month. Otherwise, this number would be really low!

I have filled in no letters on my AtoZ challenge. I only have Z left. I still have time!

I’ve also read 12 books for my #startonyourshelfathon and I now have a total of 108 of my own books! If only I could stop buying books!!

***If there’s a review, it’s linked… just click the photo!*** I AM REALLY BEHIND ON REVIEWS THIS MONTH!! Also, Doing a lot of mini-reviews. I’m finishing series and doing them in one post… so some of them I’m just waiting on finishing books.

Books Read:

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this book. I liked a lot of the messages and at times it felt like she was just going off on people. An interesting read though. I listened to the audiobook!

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Down Among the Sticks and Bones (Wayward Children, #2)

I did like this better than book 1 because it had a more cohesive plot.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Beneath the Sugar Sky (Wayward Children, #3)

My favorite one so far!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A Very Punchable Face

I really enjoyed my time with this!! I listened to the audiobook and it was the way to go.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Dragon Republic (The Poppy War, #2)

I finished this last night and I am BROKEN. SO GOOD.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #3)

I’m hoping to finish this series this month. I really am enjoying these!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Binti: The Complete Trilogy

I finished this one and thought it was really good. I don’t typically read sci-fi but I’m glad I picked this up.

Book 1- 4.5 stars, Book 2- 4 stars, Book 3- 3 stars.

Strange Planet

We have finally finished this!! It’s cute.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince (Villains, #2)

I liked this… it was one of the weakest in the series so far but I still enjoyed my time with it.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Poor Unfortunate Soul: A Tale of the Sea Witch

This was a bit underwhelming because it was mostly about everyone else than Ursula! I wanted more of her.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Mistress of All Evil: A Tale of the Dark Fairy (Villains #4)

This one was really good. Oh, how I feel for Maleficent!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Odd Sisters: A Tale of the Three Witches

This was also a very enjoyable read. I’m liking this series. It’s not the best in the world but I am really enjoying my time with them. This is the first book with a bunch of illustrations and I loved that touch!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball

This was such a great MG book!! I loved it and the illustrations are gorgeous!!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This is an OwlCrate graphic novel. I thought it was okay. I won’t be continuing and I will un-haul this one.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #3)

I really loved this series but I was let down with this final book. I thought it was a good conclusion but I was just missing something.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

The Silvered Serpents (The Gilded Wolves, #2)

This was so good. I liked it much better than book one!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Vanishing Half

This cover is gorgeous. I got this through BotM because so many were raving about it. It’s such an interesting story but so heartbreaking at times. How people just push through the best they can.

How did your month go? Did it go as planned or did you struggle? Did we read any of the same books?!

I hope that everyone is doing well and staying sane!! ❤

  1. You did such a great job with your A to Z challenge, I’m stuck on those dreaded last letters of the alphabet. We’ll see how it goes. I picked up Vanishing Half from the library, depending on my mood I might be able to squeeze it into October – lol. But I have Cemetery Boys and Thursday Murder Club on my tbr too – wanted to read something appropriate for October 😀

    • Thank you!! I think I’ll be screwed next year. More authors need to start titles with that end of the alphabet! hahaha. The Vanishing Half is good but it’s a slow start. Definitley need to be in the right mood. Ohh, I hope you enjoy those!! I’m hoping to catch up on my BoTM books. I got Addie Larue and Dead Education by Novik. I haven’t read Novik before because I’ve seen so many mixed reviews but this one sounds so good. I think BoTM killed it this month! I have to read the two I still have from previous months first though. hahaha

      • BOTM has been doing a great job recently, many books of theirs have been on my tbr already. And I agree with you we need more titles with those harder to find letters. Dead Education looks and sounds fantastic, but I tried one of her books before and I wasn’t pulled in – which is a bummer, love her covers.

        • Yeah, they have! I have only been with them since May but a lot of the months they have at least one on my TBR. Ahh, I am nervous about the Novik book! Hopefully, it’s as good as people have been saying lol

          • I feel like her books are very popular!! And I have a problem with YA fantasy anyway so don’t listen to me :D, I’m sure you’ll love/enjoy it!!

          • Yeah, I know what you mean. I normally love YA fantasy but I’ve been reading a ton more Adult high fantasy and I’ve been really struggling with YA fantasy now. I might be ruined. haha

          • When I read the first time VE Schwab I didn’t get the hype. I was coming from Brandon Sanderson, Jim Butcher, Neil Gaiman and Rothfuss, and it just didn’t compare. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why I don’t do well with YA Fantasy.

          • That definitely has something to do with it! I’ve been reading Sanderson and it’s just night and day. I’ve had a lot harder time since I started such rich and full adult fantasy! I did really like A Darker Shade of Magic by Schwab though!

  2. I also can’t believe that we’re already coming into the last few months of the year because I don’t know what I’ve been doing this year 😂 So much has happened but also, not really? LOL anyway, it sounds like you had a fab reading month! So many books that I want to read on here as well. I want to read Vanishing Half soon coz I’ve heard so many good things about it. I hope your October is great for reading too!

    • Exactly. I feel like the world has turned into a crazy mess and I’ve just been stagnant. Well mostly because I don’t go anywhere or do anything with COVID. I think that may contribute to it. I started the month out so good and then SLUMP. I’m still slumping.. I’ve been trying to do audiobooks and I’ve DNF’d a couple of those too. Yikes.

  3. What a great list and kudos to you!! Wowwww how fast do you read, Leslie??? My best is 7 each month 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Pathetic, right?!! I have the Binti trilogy on my shelf. Must attempt it soon. I’m looking at your Amelia Fang cover and loving it! I have the evil series on my shelf too, still wrapped. It’s so beautiful and new I don’t wanna unwrap it! Ahahaha and Vanishing Half 👍🏼

    • Thank you! I started out SOO goood and then I hit a terrible slump towards the end and I’m still there. I am a pretty fast reader but to be fair, a lot of those are Middle grades or short books! So I can pump those out quickly. Hehehe.. I totally know the feeling of not wanting to touch or unwrap a beautiful series/book!! <3<3
