Mini-Reviews: Fangirl vol. 1, Running out of Time, Stage Dreams, & Twenty-one Truths about Love.

Running Out of Time

This was a recommendation to fill out a challenge prompt. This is my first book by Haddix and it was a really quick read. It is intended for a much younger audience and it’s apparent. It was quite simplistic in plot and character development but I did enjoy my time with it. I was really rooting for Jessie throughout this book. I do wish we would have gotten a little more from the ending but that’s okay.

Fangirl, Vol. 1: The Manga

If you are fan of the original book then you will love this too. I really loved being thrown back into a story I love but through a different medium. There are some really good illustrations and really draw out how the characters really felt. I can’t wait for the next volume!

Stage Dreams

This was an interesting read. It was recommended as a quick read to fill a reading challenge prompt. I had never heard of it but I did enjoy my time with it. I wish it would have been a little longer.

Twenty-one Truths About Love

This was another book to fill a prompt. I had never heard of it but it’s a book completely done in lists. It was a VERY fast read and I liked that. I did find myself really enjoying the list aspect but the story had some major issues. There’s things that happen that I just don’t think are realistic. I mean, I know it’s fiction, but it’s pretty bad. The ending is really rushed and it was just okay- all happily ever after.
