Review: Nothing Like I Imagined by Mindy Kaling

I have been waiting so long to read these!! They are part of Kindle Unlimited and since I signed up for a two month free Sub… I was so excited to finally be able to jump into these. I’m a big fan of Mindy and these are short stories! Great series.

Kind of Hindu

I loved this one so much. As a parent, I related to this. It’s so hard to make so many decisions that will dictate their life. I mean.. religion is a big thing and we all do it differently. This was a really funny and interesting story! One of my favorite of the series.

Once Upon a Time in Silver Lake

This one was really short. It was just a story about a night out. I didn’t really find it funny or anything. Quite the opposite actually.

Big Shot

Oh gosh… right away.. I was thinking.. no, Mindy! That’s not why you pick up a tab. hahaha. Although, it’s different in Hollywood. This was a fun story but also I liked that she learned something from the experience! Giving is not about what you receive.. it’s about just being generous!

Help Is On the Way

Okay, I really related to a lot of things she talked about when it came to having a baby and not realizing how hard it is. I was not lucky enough to hire a baby “nurse”/nanny to live with me for the first 3 months. I did enjoy this one though. She was a bit more real and honest.

Please Like Me [But Keep Away]

This one is great because I really relate. I have social anxiety but I want to be like all the group friends you see on tv. Going to brunch and hanging out. I make plans and then think.. why do I do that.. I should just stay home. Yet, I go out and have fun. I do think it’s about finding your own group. Quality over quantity when it comes to friends.

Searching for Coach Taylor

I didn’t really care for this one. I don’t really care why you do or do not want a husband. I mean.. it kind of sounds like you do but don’t want the commitment? Idk. I wasn’t a fan of this one.

I am really glad that I got to read all these. I’ve loved her previous books and these were sweet and short. I did enjoy some more than others but it was a nice way to get some of her without a full on book. If you enjoy any of her other books then give these a go. They are free on Kindle Unlimited.
