Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week is the Top Ten Books New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020. I think what I’m going to do is New to me Authors that I plan to read this year!! I want to spotlight some people I haven’t talked about because… I haven’t read them yet!

Samantha Shannon! I have heard a lot of good things about this series and I own the first three. I’m planning on reading all three and hopefully the newest release this year.

Martha Wells! I am excited because I heard this series is great and they are shorter books. Hoping to binge them all this year too!

Julia Quinn! Yep, thanks Netflix. I loved Bridgerton and I really want to read the books now. I don’t know that I will read them all this year but hope to start.

N.K. Jemisin! I’ve heard a lot about this author and I want to get to this series this year and The City We Became!

Tamsyn Muir! I’m hoping to get to this author and her books. I want to read them both this year.

Becky Chambers! I have also heard a lot about this series. I’m excited to start!

Shannon Messenger! I can’t believe I haven’t read her before. I see this series popping up a lot now. I’m excited to start but not sure I’ll finish out the series this year. There’s a lot of books and they are chunky. Do these read quickly or are they dense??

Fonda Lee! I am excited for this one! I have heard good things.

Rachel Caine! May she rest in peace. I am saddened about her loss but she’s got a good amount of books for me to get through. I hope to get to this series.

Claudia Gray! I’ve had these sitting on my shelves for a while. I’m hoping to get through the whole series in a binge. I did have one of her other series on my shelf but I donated them a few years ago.
I know that a lot of you have probably read a lot of these series and authors. Are there any new to you authors I need to add to my list for this year? Any debut authors that you are really excited for??! Please let me know down in the comments!
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy ❤

I need to read Jade City this year, too, and I’d really like to try the Murderbot series! Becky Chambers, Tamsyn Muir and N. K. Jemisin are all fantastic, so I hope you enjoy their work.

I guess Messenger can count as a new-to-me-author from 2020 cos I started reading her book on NYE and finished it on NY Day! 😂 I’m really hoping that 2021 is the year I finally pick up Becky Chambers’ books because I’ve heard so many great things about them. Great list, Leslie!

YES! It definitely counts, haha! I know, I have too and I keep meaning to do it but I haven’t. I did get a few of the ebooks when they were on super sale! 🙂

Oooh, I like your twist on this prompt! I read Martha Wells last year, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed to meet Murderbot. It’s a fabulous series, and I hope to continue it this year! Gideon the Ninth is *chef’s kiss*. I still need to read Harrow the Ninth, but oh my gosh, that series gives me life!
Oh noooo. I somehow missed the news that Rachel Caine had passed. D: I knew she was sick and battling cancer. Man. What a shame. =/ Stupid 2020.I loved Ink and Bone, though I need to finish the series still.
Here’s my TTT post.

Thank you!! That’s so wonderful to hear about Murderbot and Gideon! I have heard mixed things about Gideon but it just seems sooooo intriguing to me that I’m going to jump in. I’m glad that you loved it!
Yeahh, it was so very sad. It happened towards the end of the year, if I remember correctly. 2020 is a year that I wish I could just delete from my memory. Although, it’s not like I even did anything. I am really hoping 2021 is much better for us! 🙂

Rachel Caine is the only one of these that I have read. I have been eyeing Julia Quinn. Enjoy exploring!

It’s such a long list for Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series at my library.. I mean… I’m doing what everyone else is and wanting to read the books because of the Netflix show. haha. I am really intrigued though, I’ll just wait a bit. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Laurel!

I love Samantha Shannon’s books, I’m currently reading The Mask Falling, the latest Bone Season release. I’ve read the first two of Rachel Caine’s Great Library books, but not any of the others yet, was so sad to hear of her passing.

I hope you enjoy them! Yes, it’s good to know that her pain is over and she’s no longer suffering.

So many great books on this list! I plan on reading Shannon Messenger’s series this year, but it does look like it will be quite the commitment. I’ve heard so many lovely things about the story though! 🙂

Thank you! I know, I thought I would read it all and binge it in one go… I feel like I would need a break though because it is hefty! lol. I have heard such great things though.

I like your take on this weeks topic. I also like all of the SF&F on your list. Isn’t it funny how sometimes authors are so well-loved but we just haven’t got around to reading them? I haven’t read Martha Wells or Fonda Lee and I’m totally planning to!
I hope you enjoy the Bridgerton book! I admit the series has made me intrigued about it but I’m happy with just watching 😆

Thanks! I know, there’s soo many authors and books that people talk about over and over. I always plan on it but there’s so many things that get in the way. Trying to finish current series, new book from an author I love, ARC’s/blog tours, and it never ends! lol. I’m hoping to do better about getting some of these done this year though.
Hah! I’m like 437 on hold for Bridgerton.. I might have to stick with just watching too.. Not the worst thing! lol

I’ve found that as much as I focus on just reading what I enjoy, I still get drawn in by books that have a lot of hype around them and end up adding them to TBRs and then, like you say, it never ends lol
Haha that’s how priorities go! I hope you enjoy the reading

Yep, I really started having that problem when I started blogging. haha. My TBR became insane but it’s okay.. I love it here! 🙂
