Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week there is a new topic for bloggers to choose and list their top ten. This week is the Top Ten Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud (Claire @ Book Lovers Pizza) I am going to change the topic here and talk about some of my favorite Memoirs!
Last year, I really started to venture out into more non-fiction. One of the things that I loved was listening to audiobooks but only memoirs. For some reason, it is the only way for me to listen to audiobooks! Maybe because it’s from the actual author or something. Regardless, I’ve listened to a lot and here are some of my favorite!

I read this a long time ago.. I might have to listen to it on audiobook. I loved this one.

I love her. This is one of the first audiobooks I’ve ever listened to completely! 🙂

One of the absolute best ones I’ve listened to. It was a top book last year! It’s so good.

I realllly enjoyed this one! I have an ARC for her next book that comes out in a couple months. I’m excited about it but now might want to wait for the audio! We will see.

This isn’t what I expected at all. There’s a lot of slower parts but it’s such an interesting and well written book.

Such a funny and interesting listen! She talks so fast, so it goes by pretty quickly.

This is sooo good. I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. I highly recommend, if you were a fan at all.

Even if you don’t watch SNL, this was a really funny memoir! I enjoyed it very much. He really does have such a punchable face. hahaha

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but she’s totally her character on Parks. haha. So blunt, honest and real. Loved it.

I don’t know if you follow her. I found her when I was pregnant. She has some awesome content and it’s so funny. My sister tagged me bc I was a bit depressed bc it was so high risk and I was on bed rest. I loooved her videos to help me get through. We were due a month apart. I didn’t know much about her but this book is SO good. She’s due again in a few months… so happy she’s cleaned up her life and is happy.
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy ❤

Great list! One of these days I need to cross Becoming off my TBR, I haven’t heard a single negative thing about it.

I’ve never really got into memoirs but the two Obamas are appealing to me here! But then that may be the quality of the Obamas! These are my books that made me laugh out loud – some recent reads and some familiar classics.

I never really did either until last year. I found that it was the only thing I could listen to on audio format. Now, I devour them that way! I’ve found some great ones. The Obama books are fantastic!!! Becoming is a favorite, for sure!

Love the list! I so enjoyed Becoming…and look forward to A Promised Land. I’m curious about Felicia Day’s book.

I don’t really read memoirs but I’m not sure why, it’s a fascinating genre. You have some great recs here, I’ll keep them in mind!

Awesome! Yeah, I didn’t really read them, until I realized I could listen to them through audio last year. Such a great way to read/listen to them!!

That was my thought process actually! Particularly if the author is reading it; it makes sense!

Yes, the author reading it makes the experience so much better!

Great list, Leslie! I don’t read a lot of NF but I do set a goal to read more every year! I’ve actually got Furiously Happy sat right beside my bed right now and I’m excited to give it try (that cover tho)! 😂 Also can’t wait to read Kaling, Obama’s and Simpson’s books 😃

Thank you! Ohh, I really liked that one! It was funny and I hope you enjoy it too. Yeah, the cover is definitely strange but there’s 100 percent a reason!!! Once you read it, you’ll understand. haha. I have an arc to her next book that comes out in April!

It’s more of an educational read than entertaining but I learned so much! Great read but it is chunky! haha

That’s kind of what I was expecting tbh! I know, it’s like twice the size of Michelle’s!

I’ve not read Mindy Kaling’s books, but I’ve seen the Mindy Project and found it hilarious. Thanks for spotlighting Laura Clery, I’m going to check out the videos for sure. Humor is really the world’s best medicine. Happy TTT

I listened to Amy Pohler’s Yes, Please as an audiobook…and it mostly worked. Some parts were written for the printed page and didn’t translate well. But she does have guest readers.

Ahh, I read it and wondered how it would be through audio. I typically love it but sometimes miss it when they reference a picture or something and I don’t have that. I really did enjoy the book.. maybe that was the better way then.

I totally understand! I can only listen to certain kinds of books on audio as well. I’m still new to the genre, so maybe that’s why. I’ll have to pick up the Poehler book. I like her style of humor, so I’m guessing I would enjoy her book.
Happy TTT!

Yeah, it’s so crazy! I guess my mind only focuses a certain way with certain genres. So weird! Oh, I hope you enjoy it when you pick it up!!

We may have talked about this before–my memory is the worst–but the only way I can listen to audiobooks is if they’re memoirs, as well. 😉 I’ve listened to and enjoyed the first two on your list. I’m so intrigued by the Jessica Simpson book. I’m hearing such great things about it. I need to give it a listen. ❤

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that they are people we watch on tv and movies. Maybe we feel like they are talking to us?! haha! Ohh, yes!! It’s really good and I enjoyed it a lot!

That’s what I think! I think it helps that I’m familiar with their voice and they’re just talking about their lives. 🤷♀️ I don’t know if that makes much sense, but somehow it works. 😂

Yep, exactly. It makes total sense to us and it works! Who cares if someone else doesn’t get it. haha! 😛
