The Cake Flavored Book Tag!

I was tagged by the lovely, Becky & Kayla @ A Couple of B’s. Thank you so much. You NEED to check them out. They are a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law that actually get along!! It’s so rare and such an amazing thing. <3<3 I’m quite jealous because my MIL absolutely does not like me. I have tagged their answers to this tag if you want to check them out!!

The Rules:

  • As mentioned before, I found this tag over on @Reading on a Star (Erin has an amazing blog and you definitely should check it out.)
  • I’m not sure who the original creator is.
  • Answer the prompts
  • Tag whoever you want!

The Questions:

CHOCOLATE — a dark book that you loved

The Burning God (The Poppy War, #3)

Now, I’m taking this as dark content and not dark cover. Obviously, this cover is the opposite of dark and actually quite light and beautiful. The story though… is absolutely dark. This whole trilogy is dark and intense but I absolutely loved it!

VANILLA —  favorite light read

The Hating Game

I could put a lot of romances here because that’s usually what I go to now. It’s crazy because a year ago, I hardly ever read romances. I love me an enemies-to-lovers because they can make me laugh the most. It’s what I look for in a light read.

RED VELVET — a book that gave you mixed emotions.

I went into this with mixed emotions and I’m not surprised that I came out with them too. I totally respect what Hoover was trying to do- branch out. I applaud that. I just didn’t love this like her others and found so many things that I liked and didn’t like. A whole bag of mixed emotions with this one!

CHEESECAKE — a book that you’d recommend to everyone

The House in the Cerulean Sea

This is an absolute gem. It’s everything that 2020 needed and more. I have a couple others that I always put here but this time, I’m going with TJ Klune. This book is for adults but it’s such an easy read, more middle grade like. There’s so many great tidbits of wisdom and life lessons. It will make you laugh, cry, and just happy.

COFFEE — a book that you started but never finished.

A Deadly Education (The Scholomance, #1)

I don’t typically DNF that often but I’m working on it. This was my last DNF. I don’t know if I wasn’t in the mood or if her writing style isn’t for me. I will pick it up at another time and give it a shot.

CARROT — a book with great writing

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

V.E. Schwab is a fantastic writer. I’ve loved everything that I’ve read by her. This book is such a beautifully written book! There’s a reason it’s so hyped up.

  1. Okay, I’m also jealous of the very mysterious and rarely seen mother in law and daughter in law “friendship”. I too am in the mother in law doesn’t like me club. Lol, seriously, she legit kicked me in the butt before. So rude. Haha

I haven’t read any of the books you listed before. I do have The Hating Game though 🤔

    • Hahaha!! Right?!? I’m soo jealous!! I have stories!! The one that makes me the most mad… When I was pregnant (2yrs ago) she knew I couldn’t stand Taco Bell.. and she brought it up for EVERY meal. She was staying with us and finally.. after us asking her several times to stop.. I was eating a banana and she thought it up and it made me unbelievably sick for two days. She’s something else. Never apologized either. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ohhh, that’s a good one! A quick romance!

  3. I loved reading your answers! THE HOUSE IN THE CERULEAN SEA has been on my list for a while because I just love the cover, but now I’m going to have to move it up the TBR, especially since it’s an easier read. Also, I totally understand your problem with DEADLY EDUCATION. I had to give up and get the audiobook. There were just too many instances of exposition for the sake of world-building, but I thought it was worth it in the end. ❤️🐝🐝

    • YES!!! You need to move it up!!! It’s a wonderful book. I totally bought it for the cover because it’s gorgeous! Luckily, the inside is too. I’m sure you will love it. Ahh, exactly! I think I’ll try and pick it back up at some point but gosh.. it was rough for me. I have heard the ending is good though!! ❤
