The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, it was relaunched by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. Does the cover of a book affect whether you are more willing to read it? (submitted by Julie @ JadeSky)

Ohhhhh… gosh…. do I have to answer this?! hahaha

Absolutely. I hate to say that I’m better then that but the cover is really important. It can grab you and make you want to read it or do the opposite. I have learned there are MANY gems that don’t have the best cover. Books that I never would have touched (looking at you Evelyn Hugo by Reid) without so many glowing recommendations. I then loved them and were top favorites. I need to do better but will I ever stop completely? I doubt it.

What about you?

  1. Yep, as much as we all talk about not judging books by covers, I have to admit that I’m a cover judger 😂🙈 I’m a sucker for really cute illustrated covers and always add them so quickly to my TBR whenever I see a new one! Even if I don’t add it to my TBR, these covers will at least immediately catch my attention so I’d check it out lol Also, Evelyn Hugo is the best ❤️

    • Right?! I am so bad about this.. oooo, that cover is gorgeous! ADD! haha. I am better about waiting to buy because sometimes they are not great on the inside! I think it’s part of the industry though. They know we love a pretty cover and that’s how they get us!

  2. The cover is definitely very important to me when it comes to the initial actual picking up of the book. I tend to decide whether I am going to read it or not entirely based on how pretty the cover is. The exception to this of course is if a book has been recommended but I do get a bit salty about reading or displaying a book that has a boring or ugly cover!

    • Yes! I wonder why it’s so important to us. I mean, if we are buying a book and it’s amazing but the cover is ugly, yeah… it sucks to have it on our shelves! I feel like it’s a lot harder to come by an ugly cover now, right?! I feel like they have gotten better. Maybe I’m just isolating too. haha

  3. Hi there Leslie! Gosh, I haven’t done a Book Blogger Hop in ages. Need to try to do one soon!

Covers… Oh that is a tricky one! Mostly I will say yes, but that is not the final nail in the coffin. I like a good title a bit more! I will normally pick a book rather on the title and then search on Goodreads for the cover I like the most!

You should join another Friday meme called Friday Face-off. There you can compare the different covers of the same book. Lots of fun!

    Have good week!

    • Yes, you should!! They are fun. 🙂 Although, I’m bad at remembering to be consistent! haha.

Oh, titles are also really important!! I need to not care about covers so much!

That sounds like fun! I’ll have to remember that when I don’t have something on Friday or if I’m not into the BBH question!! Thanks for sharing! ❤ Have a wonderful week!!
