I saw this over on One Book More and thought it would be a fun new monthly post! I have tagged her post so you can check it out too! It was originally created by Reviews from the Stacks, and the idea is to spell the month using the first letter of book titles.
I’m just going to add a tidbit from the synopsis and whether I’ve read it or want to. I’ll link the Goodreads link on the title if you want to check it out more!
M- Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity by Justin Baldoni

” Writing from experience, Justin invites us to move beyond the scripts we’ve learned since childhood and the roles we are expected to play. He challenges men to be brave enough to be vulnerable, to be strong enough to be sensitive, to be confident enough to listen. Encouraging men to dig deep within themselves, Justin helps us reimagine what it means to be man enough and in the process what it means to be human.”
This book is amazing. Listen to the audio if you can. One of my favorites in January!!
A- A Whole New World by Liz Braswell

“What if Jafar was the first one to summon the Genie?”
That’s all you need to know!! This is an interesting take and I enjoyed how different characters took the reigns in this one. It was a little dark and brutal though.
R- Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells

“SciFi’s favorite crabby A.I. is again on a mission. The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah’s SecUnit is.”
Crabby A.I. is funny but true. I miss Murderbot!!
C- Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

“In a novel-in-verse that brims with grief and love, National Book Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Acevedo writes about the devastation of loss, the difficulty of forgiveness, and the bittersweet bonds that shape our lives.”
I had mixed feelings on this one. The content is good but I struggled with it being in-verse.
H- Heartstopper vol. 4 by Alice Oseman

“Nick’s journal: I think I’m in love with Charlie. This summer with him and our friend has been amazing, and I want to say ‘I love you’, but… I guess I’ve had other things to worry about lately…”
I loved this so much!! It’s my favorite one so far!

Great selection! I can understand why Clap When You Land wouldn’t work as well for you if you struggled with the fact that it’s told in verse… I personally loved it, but it’s something that isn’t for everyone. I’m curious: have you tried The Poet X yet?

Thank you. I haven’t read The Poet X. I am a bit leary now because isn’t it told in verse, as well? I have heard good things about it. I Clap When You Land was good but a bit of a struggle. I just couldn’t get completely immersed.

Yes it is, that’s why I asked! If you are worried about the verse, have you tried her other story With The Fire On High yet? That one doesn’t use verse and is excellent too.

Yes! I loved With The Fire on High!!

Me too! It does read easier without the verse, although I personally did like the other two as well. But if you struggled with the verse, reading The Poet X might not be the best idea yet.

Yeah, I think I want to give it a try later on. I’m not completely taking it off the list. I’ve read some other Middle Grade books in verse and have liked them.

I love this challenge. Sorry, I hadn’t commented on this last month, I had only found the one you did last year.
Here is my April spelling, I had a lot of fun with that and found some nice children’s books.
