Meet the Book Blogger Tag!

Thank you so much for the tag, Kerri & Becky! It’s been a long time since I’ve done this one and it’s the perfect time to do it. I love that these questions are different though. If you don’t know who Kerri is, then you need to go check out her blog. She’s so sweet and I’ve linked her blog with her post here. I was also tagged by the lovely Becky @ Becky’s Book Blog! A newer bookish friend and I have linked her post so you can check out her answers too. ❤

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who tagged you
  • Mention the creator Lauren @ Lala’s Book Reviews
  • Tag as many (or as few) people as you’d like
  • Have fun and get to know one another!

Introduction:

Introduce yourself!

Hello! My name is Leslie and I’ve been blogging for about 4 years. I am happily married to Chris for almost 11 years (July 11)! We have an almost 3-year-old, Oliver. I am a stay-at-home mom and so blessed! I know that not everyone is able to do so (or wants to) and I’m very lucky. I used to work at a library and that was awesome! I am a huge plant person and love to craft. I have a lot of hobbies. I’m also really bad at introductions. haha!

Something most everyone wants to know…do you have any pets?

No pets here. I am very allergic to pet dander but Ollie is extremely allergic. He gets on-set asthma and has the scariest breakouts. He gets these huge welts all over. We just avoid pets at all costs. It’s so sad because he loves animals and always wants to pet dogs and cats when he sees them.

What is your favorite thing to drink?

It used to be a really cold pop. Like there’s little shards of ice in it- it’s that cold. lol Now, it’s coffee. I have to have at least one cup a day. I had a kid and he doesn’t ever sleep. So… coffee is my friend. In the winter, I do like tea, as well.

What is your favorite season?

Spring is my favorite!! I love to see all the blooms coming out and it’s the beginning of warmer weather. I love all the new beginnings and opening windows. It’s the best feeling after being cooped up all winter.

Do you have any special talents?

I’m really good at crafting?! Does that count? I can pretty much make anything. I do all kinds of crafting and even art. I make a lot of the decor for my home and always make gifts for others.

Blogging:

When and why did you start your blog?

I just had my 4 year anniversary yesterday. I actually started my blog because I wanted a place to start writing reviews for Goodreads. I didn’t even know the world I was joining and it was the best decision ever.

What is something that you wish you knew about blogging when you first started?

You can’t do it all. I started out doing memes every day of the week. That, with reviews and all the other things, became way too much. I now only do two memes every week and throw in some others when I have some spare time to do them. I don’t review every book I read, and it’s helped a lot. I was starting to feel like I had to read to review, and it wasn’t fun. I felt burned out real fast, but I think I’ve found my own flow that works.

What has been the hardest part about blogging?

Sticking to an actual schedule. It’s sooo easy to fall behind quick! I respond to EVERY single comment on my blog. On some days, my kid acts up and it slips by really fast. It can be a couple days and I have several comments to respond to BUT I do it because I love the interaction with you guys. Blogging was so much easier before I had my toddler, but I think I’ve found what work for me! 🙂

What has been the most rewarding part of blogging?

No question it’s the friends. I have met some amazing people and I really wish that we could all just meet up and meet at a bookstore. Most of them are not even in my country, which is really cool too! Some of them I speak to everyday and is the sole reason I keep blogging. I love the bookish friends I’ve made! ❤

Do you write your posts ahead of time or write them the day of posting?

I definitely schedule my posts. The only posts that I write randomly or the day of, are review posts. The memes and all others are done on the weekend for as far as I can go. I cut out time on the weekends so my husband can spend time with Ollie and I can really get some blogging done.

Reading:

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?

Ahh, these are the worst questions! In no particular order:

  • Fredrik Backman
  • Victoria Schwab
  • Brandon Sanderson
  • Colleen Hoover
  • Sarah J Maas

What genre do you read the most?

It’s fantasy for sure. I was surprised to find out that Romance has come in a close second this year though.

What genre surprised you by how much you love it?

I think Romance!! I didn’t really read it until a year or two ago. I have to thank Dini, because a lot of the ones I love have been ones she’s shouted from the rooftops about. ❤

Which popular book didn’t live up to the hype for you?

hahahaha… Ice Planet Barbarians. Look.. I know it’s kind of ridiculous and that’s what I expected but it just was not for me. It was rough and I lost track of how many times I rolled my eyes. LOL! I totally understand why it’s hyped up. They are short and fun for people and that’s totally okay!

Who are some popular authors you haven’t read?

Robin Hobb and Becky Chambers are two that I see all the time. I have the books but need to actually read them. I plan on it soon! ❤

What upcoming release are you excited to read?

There are so many but here are some:

Just take a minute to notice… it’s split half fantasy and half romance. HAHAHA!!!

Do you listen to music while reading?

Nope… I do not have that in me. It’s okay though! 🙂

Where else can we find you online?

  1. Love reading your answers to this. Such a shame that your son can’t pet animals. Children always want to reach out and stroke things don’t they?. Spring is definitely my favourite season too. I am just loving it at the moment.

  2. This was fun to read! Being a stay at home mom is hard work. Especially at that age. I feel you on the no sleep. My daughter didn’t sleep through the night until 2 and wasn’t a good napper. Being tired is no fun. It’s part of the reason we only have 1 kid. Haha

  4. Thank you for the tag! I love these questions. 😄
So sad to hear about little Ollie’s pet allergy! 😦 And I feel you on your kid never sleeping, lol! Mine is 5 and he seems to be outgrowing naps right now, which I’m a little sad about. 🤣 I love those afternoon naps with him because I don’t sleep enough at night, either!

    • Ohhh no!!! I dread the no nap stage. Ollie keeps trying but I’m like nope! Haha. He’s terribly fussy if he doesn’t get a nap. It’s crazy how kids don’t sleep!!

  5. Loved this post and getting to know you a little better! I stay at home, too, and homeschool my kids on top of that. My oldest is now in college and my middle child is about to graduate high school, but my daughter still has three years of high school left. One day they’re 3 and then you’ll blink and they’re grown.
And making friends around the world is definitely a huge plus to blogging. I love it!

    • Oh, wow!! That’s impressive that you homeschool. I was homeschooled until 4th grade. My husband and I talked about it but he would prefer him to go to school, which is fine. My bff homeschooled her first last year bc of Covid and it’s sooo much work! So props to you!! Yes, getting to know all the bookish friends is so fun! 😊
