Spell the Month in Books: August!

I saw this over on One Book More and thought it would be a fun monthly post! I have tagged her post so you can check it out too! It was originally created by Reviews from the Stacks, and the idea is to spell the month using the first letter of book titles.

I’m just going to add a tidbit from the synopsis and whether I’ve read it or want to. I’ll link the Goodreads link on the title if you want to check it out more!

Is this summer flying by or is it just me?!? How are we in August and Halloween is in the stores already?! lol

A- A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

“Now the life of the tea monk who tells this story is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of “what do people need?” is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how. They will need to ask it a lot. Chambers’ series asks: in a world where people have what they want, does having more matter?”

I just snagged this on BookOutlet and I’m so excited to read it!!

U- Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, The by Michelle Hodkin

Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed. There is.

I read this a long time ago, and I liked it. The ending is terrible though. Would not recommend! Getting desperate for U’s lol

GGeorgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn

“In this heartfelt tale of one woman’s quest to reinvent herself, the acclaimed author of Love Lettering and Love at First delivers a poignant, witty reflection on how the hopes, dreams, and stories from our past shape our future . . .”

I haven’t read this but I was approved for the ARC. It comes out in January but it sounds really good!

U-

“In the beginning, there’s a boy standing in the trees… Clara Gardner has recently learned that she’s part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn’t easy.”

Another blast from the past. I remember liking this okay but not loving the series.

S- Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft

“The Tower of Babel is the greatest marvel in the world. Immense as a mountain, the ancient Tower holds unnumbered ringdoms, warring and peaceful, stacked one on the other like the layers of a cake. It is a world of geniuses and tyrants, of airships and steam engines, of unusual animals and mysterious machines.”

This was an option to pick from a publisher. It’s been on my Netgalley shelf for almost a year. I need to read this because it’s driving me crazy that it’s still on there! lol

T- Ten Thousand Stitches by Olivia Atwater

“Regency housemaid Euphemia Reeves has acquired a faerie godfather. Unfortunately, he has no idea what he’s doing”

This has been an interesting series. This wasn’t my favorite but interesting enough.

    • Thank you! Psalm is one that I’m really wanting to pick up because everyone raves about it. Senlin Ascends, I have an arc on Netgalley (it was from the publisher bc it came out years ago) and I still haven’t made myself pick it up. It sounds good though!

  1. I got approved for an ARC of Georgie All Along too! Lemme know if you’d be interested in buddy reading 🧡 Bc it’s release is so far out, we’ve got time!

Sidenote: I love summer, but omg am I ready for cooler weather!!! I also love Halloween, so seeing the stuff in the stores already makes me just the tiniest bit happier!

    • Oh, cool!! Yes, let’s buddy read it!! Yes, we’ve got some time to figure out when want to read it.

I was never a big halloween fan bc I hate being scared… THEN I had a child, who has become obsessed. He’s been freaking out with all the Halloween in stores! We may or may not have purchased 4 inflatables at Lowe’s when I went to get paint. We also… may or may not… have them blown up inside the house right now. haha!
