This last week has been so busy and I haven’t had as much time to do anything. I hope to catch up on blog hopping this weekend and reading a lot more! I hope everyone has had a lovely week!
I have made some progress. I’m to 12% now.
I am buddy reading this with Dini. I am to 20% and really enjoying it so far!!
This was a major disappointment. I had such huge expectations and it fell short. It as also one of my highly anticipated books this year.
It’s about time! haha. I have all these chunky books lined up but I want to read this and then jump into book three when it gets here!!

Books Are The New Black 
So sorry that the Klune didn’t live up to your expectations. It’s such a shame when it’s a book that you’ve anticipated for ages.

It was good! There’s a couple things that need talked about in the second book but enjoyed it!

Noooo, I’m so sad you thought the new Klune was a disappointment. I wasn’t a super fan of his last one either, now I gotta be wary about diving into this one.

I know… I know.. It was so sad!! It’s so different and felt really far from his usual style.

I would love to know how Klune’s book fell short and if it’s even worth attempting to read for me.

I would pass. I buddy read it with Julie and Hamad. We all kind of felt the same. There’s like no plot & I was bored.. the characters started off amazing but then I started to get annoyed with the continuous banter about 65% of the way. Mostly, one robot. lol It was over the top. There are some Klune emotional moments but not like I’m used to from him. There are still some things that were never wrapped up when it comes to some plot points too.

Oh no! I’m so sad you didn’t like In the Lives of Puppets. I really loved it. I’m curious to see why it didn’t work for you.

I know, I am sooo sad too. I thought it was just me but the two others I read it with thought similar things. Ahhh!! I need to write a review soon but I loved the characters a lot. By the time I got 60% I really started to get annoyed with a couple. I still don’t understand how the egg was fertilized. I expected so much more from the dystopian type world and it felt like it didn’t quite fit. I did love the relationship between many of the characters though.

The characters and their relationships were the thing I loved most too. I agree that the plot and world-building weren’t 100% on point, but I still enjoyed it because of the characters.

I only added Klune’s book to my TBR yesterday, curious to see what was wrong with it. Glad you’re enjoying your current reads to make up for it!

I’m so bummed to see that you didn’t enjoy Lives of Puppets but I’m so glad that you’re enjoying Spice Road. I think I’m enjoying it so far—I’m sorry that I’m such a slow buddy reader this time around—but you also know how I feel about Imani right now. 😂 Really hoping it picks up for me, I’m aiming to catch up tonight! 😃
