Sunday’s In Bed With… Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare

Sundays in Bed With… is a meme that dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

Hey Blogger friends!

I have FINALLY picked up this book! Technically, I downloaded the ebook from my library bc there’s no way to read this chunky book without hurting my hand. HAHA! It’s much easier this way. I’m about half way and it’s a lot. This book is insanely too long. I can already tell from what I’ve read so far. It’s interesting but I feel like a lot hasn’t really happened yet.

I am reading…

Blurb from Goodreads:

The Shadowhunters must catch a killer in Edwardian London in this dangerous and romantic sequel to the #1 New York Times bestselling novel Chain of Gold, from New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Cassandra Clare. Chain of Iron is a Shadowhunters novel.

Cordelia Carstairs seems to have everything she ever wanted. She’s engaged to marry James Herondale, the boy she has loved since childhood. She has a new life in London with her best friend Lucie Herondale and James’s charming companions, the Merry Thieves. She is about to be reunited with her beloved father. And she bears the sword Cortana, a legendary hero’s blade.

But the truth is far grimmer. James and Cordelia’s marriage is a lie, arranged to save Cordelia’s reputation. James is in love with the mysterious Grace Blackthorn whose brother, Jesse, died years ago in a terrible accident. Cortana burns Cordelia’s hand when she touches it, while her father has grown bitter and angry. And a serial murderer is targeting the Shadowhunters of London, killing under cover of darkness, then vanishing without a trace.

Together with the Merry Thieves, Cordelia, James, and Lucie must follow the trail of the knife-wielding killer through the city’s most dangerous streets. All the while, each is keeping a shocking secret: Lucie, that she plans to raise Jesse from the dead; Cordelia, that she has sworn a dangerous oath of loyalty to a mysterious power; and James, that he is being drawn further each night into the dark web of his grandfather, the arch-demon Belial. And that he himself may be the killer they seek.”

Life Update:

I just want to give a bit of an update! I know, many of you were sending positive thoughts, prayers, and vibes my way. I so appreciate it! I had my scan on Thursday afternoon and everything looked great! My cervix looked great and no more cervical length scans!! I also didn’t get put on bedrest since it looked great. Obviously, with IC anything crazy can happen in the next three months but this is a huge swing in my favor! Baby boy had a growth scan too because he didn’t cooperate at the anatomy scan. Unfortunately, he didn’t cooperate much this time but they did finally get a few more measurements that they needed, mostly his facial features. He’s got the cutest profile! ❤ He’s weighing about 1lb and 7oz! Thank you all for your sweet words and encouragement over the last few months! We hit a huge milestone and my anxiety hasn’t felt this good the whole pregnancy! ❤

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday!!!

  1. Yay for positive news! I know that’s such a relief.

Clare’s books are so chunky! I read the actual book and it was not easy. LOL Lots of pillow usage. Happy reading this week!

    • Thank you!! Yes, it is! 🥰

Haha! I thought about it and considering I started it while I was on bedrest.. there’s no way I could hold that book up! I figured the ebook from the library was the way to go. Haha. I’m about 65% of the way. This book did not need to be this long! 😂

  2. I’m so glad that all is going well! Take care, Leslie. 🤍 I was disappointed with the second book in this trilogy. Matthew-James-Cordelia was unnecessary in my opinion. I’m still curious to see where the story is going, but I don’t know if I’m ready for nothing to happen for half the book. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • So I just realized I messed up. I thought you were reading Chain of Thorns! 🫣 That’s why my first comment doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, I can’t delete the comment and I’m hoping nothing I said is a surprise or spoiler. ☠️ So sorry, Leslie!

    • Ugh, I feel the same. I was so annoyed with all the last second missed chances or communication. I hate that there’s a love triangle now and makes me not want to pick up the next book. Especially, since it’s just as long
