The Prompts:

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a later book in a series before the first

I have done this once and it was a total accident. It was years ago before I was blogging. I had won a GR giveaway and it was for book two. I had NO idea until I was half way through the book and so confused. I ended up finishing it and enjoying it though. haha

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Burned a book

No, I have never burned a book. There’s some that I have really disliked but I don’t think I could ever actually burn it. There are some politician books that I could probably burn without any guilt though. lol

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Gone into a shop to buy one book and come out with many more…

This is pretty much impossible?! Has anyone ever gone in and just bought one book? Unless you are rushing in to grab the sequel after you just finished the previous and were rushed? Lol

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Loved a book when I was younger and hated it when I was older

Yeah… I re-read Little Women, which I loved when I was younger. This go around, I struggled with it and did not enjoy it as much as I did before.

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a book I knew I’d hate

Why would anyone do this? There are too many books and not enough time as it is! I could never read a book that I knew I would hate.

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Wrote a fanfiction about my favorite book

Nope. I haven’t ever written fan-fic but I have read some that other’s have written.

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Dressed up as my favorite literary characters

I have not done this. I would like to at some point! I will probably do so when my kiddo has stuff going on at school.

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Hated a book by an author I love

Oh, this has happened. It’s so sad but I just tell myself that they can’t all be winners. At some point, there’s going to be one that’s a huge miss. I’m actually not going to talk about the author or book because I don’t like to hate on either one!

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Skim read a book

Yes. I did this last night, actually. I had an arc that was a STRUGGLE. I was buddy reading it and ended up skimming the last half to get through it. I don’t love doing it but sometimes it’s necessary.

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Pretended to read a book when I haven’t

LOL. No, I have never done this. Who does this?! It would be so easy to be caught in the lie and it’s so disingenuous!

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a book without a dust cover

Every time I pick up a hardback, I take off the dust cover. I cannot read with them on because it drives me crazy! They slip all over the place and just get ruined.

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Had a book boyfriend/girlfriend

I don’t think so. I’m not quite sure I understand the question. I don’t think I have ever had one. The only person that I’ve been obsessed with is Harry Styles. haha

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Picked up a book based on the cover alone

I do this ALL the time. I tell myself not to and I will probably not even read the blurb on the back. I love covers and they get me all the time!

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read the end of a book before the beginning

NO!!! I would never do this because I wouldn’t even be able to start it. My best friend does this and I don’t understand. She tells me that it’s much less stressful for her and will read the book just fine. LOL

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a history or anthropology book for fun

I don’t know that I have. I think the closest I’ve gotten is Barack Obama’s memoir. It’s insanely huge and omg- very history packed. It is not like your typical memoir and more about proceedings in the White House and during his presidency. I did fall asleep a couple of times. haha

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Participated in a readathon

Yes! I’ve done so may and love them dearly. This year, I’m only doing the Magical Readathon because it is one of my favorites! I really hope I can do August but I’ll have a newborn so we will see!

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Bought multiple books in a series before starting it

I tell myself not to do this but I do it ALL the time. What if I pick it up and then immediately want to read them all? I have them all there and it’s so convenient. Don’t ask me what happens when I don’t like the first book. haha

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Filled up an entire bookshelf and had to have stacks of books balanced precariously throughout various rooms

Yep. I did this at my last house. I had found some very creative ways to stack books. In my current house, I am blessed with an actual library and don’t have to do this anymore! 🙂

The Sassy Library Fox’s Question:

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Hurt a book (e.g. accidentally spilled ice cream or coffee on it, dog-eared a book, etc.)

This was going to be my question! haha. I have never done this on purpose. I have spilled my drink on my book a couple of times. When you have a hyper toddler and try to multi-task it can go wrong really quick. haha

MY QUESTION:

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Loved the movie/tv series more than the book??

Yes, actually. I really liked the third Hunger Games movie better than the book. There’s a lot that gets skipped over in the book and it wasn’t my favorite. The movie does a good job filling those. I think the Grishaverse TV series has done a fabulous job too. I didn’t enjoy the books and never read the third. Loved the first season though!

  1. I hate to admit that I read the entire After series when I didn’t like the first book. I knew I wouldn’t like most of the rest, but I had to know how it all played out.
It was really fun to read all of your answers.

  2. I don’t understand your friend either…sometimes I can’t bear it and peek at the end of a book while reading. I always get really mad afterward for spoiling myself. This looks like such a fun and relatable tag. I loved seeing your answers!

    • haha, yeah! She just says it helps her anxiety so whatever works. At least, she’s reading!! haha. But yeah, I just wouldn’t want to continue after I knew the end but that’s just me!

  3. Such a fun tag and thanks for tagging me! My best friend also reads the ends of the books first and for the same reason. I don’t get it either. The angst of not knowing sometimes is what makes a read so good. It kills me. It’s one of those things we have fun arguing over, though.

    • I’ve realized after this tag that it’s more common than we realize! How interesting!! Yes, I completely agree with you. It can make or kill the book for me! haha. At least, they are still reading, huh?!

  4. I loved your answers. I started Harry Potter by reading the third book first. I loved it so much, I bought the others and read them in order. I also read the last page first. I know, I’m a terrible person but I just do. Enough said. (It has never spoiled the story for me)

  5. I think I did this tag before, but I swear the questions weren’t the same?

I have read books in a series out of order! Definitely so. I did it once in the past, because I got them out of order (not on purpose, it happened) and there was no way I could wait before opening up the ones I had … and more recently, because it was a fantasy sci-fi series, and book two was set on earth, and I usually hate books set on earth. But I liked the third book enough to go back and try it. And I may not have loved the fact it was set on earth, but I did love the book.

    • I think they do end up changing somehow. Especially, when new questions are added!

Yes, I think it happennumberly with the amount of books and reading we do. Not on purpose, but by accident, for sure! So glad it worked out for you to go back and read that book!! Says a lot if you didn’t love that it was on Earth but still enjoyed it, overall!
